God is good, He is faithful and He is willing that none would perish. Last Tuesday, I found out that my great uncle accepted Christ. He is in his eighties and I have been knocking on heaven's door, interceding for his soul. What blessed assurance to know that he has asked Jesus to live in his heart. The next day, I found out that his wife passed away. We are assured that she was ready to meet Jesus too. What a relief. I set out for her funeral on Friday afternoon. As I drove the country road leading back to the funeral home, I looked up in the sky and saw a beautiful painting in the clouds. I am not one who sees visions or get vivid pictures often, so when I do, I pay attention! In the sky, painted in white against the clear blue sky...I saw the face of Jesus. I know that we don't really know what Jesus looks like, but we have all seen man made pictures of what we imagine He could look like. And, there He was. For over ten minutes, each time I looked up, the image remained. It rested directly above the funeral home. A worship CD was playing and the words just brought even more comfort to my soul. As I entered into that building I knew that Jesus was there and that He would be moving in hearts. A local pastor officiated the service, and even though he didn't know my deceased aunt, he did a wonderful job preaching from John 3:16. He spoke about the love, sympathy and hope that were in the death of Christ. He clearly spelled out the plan of salvation and gave people the opportunity to come to Christ. There were less than thirty people in attendance, but I know that at least half of them were in desperate need of the message he delivered. I pray that their ears and eyes were opened and that they received Him that day. The pastor reminded us that nothing matters more than loving God and loving others, and that love begins with our own families. "First things first."
Yesterday, we had a blessed service at church and my heart was full. The worship was sweet, the fellowship was rich and the message and vision for our future was encouraging. A dear lady approached me after the service to tell me that she literally saw angels surrounding us, sitting in the midst of our praises, as if they were holding court. It was precious. She said she rarely gets visions of this kind, so it was even more impacting to hear her share. God is at work. He is all around us and He wants to make Himself known to us. The song we were singing was "Famous One" by Chris Tomlin. The second verse brought me to tears as we sang it. God is everywhere and He will make Himself known, through nature, through miracles, to all! We serve the One true God and He is powerful, mighty to save!
"The morning star
Is shining through
And every eye
Is watching you
Revealed by nature
And miracles
You are beautiful
You are beautiful"
I found myself singing a new song as we prayed...over and over again, I sang,
"You were, You are, You will be
Every knee will bow
Every tongue confess
Make Your presence known in all the earth
Let the world feel Your love."
So precious and powerful is the presence of the Almighty God. He is good. He is faithful. He wants to touch us, heal us, restore us and redeem what the years of locust have stolen. He wants to fill us up and make us more like Himself. I am so grateful to Him for the times He shows up and makes His presence known in tangible ways. Those times will carry us in the darkest of days.
