Looking Back...Christmas Letters 2009

Christmas 2009
Dear Brandt,
I’m glad that you’re my brother. I hope you’ll get better; I don’t want you to be sick on Christmas. I like to play Nintendo with you, and I like to play with you in the snow. Thank you for building me a Transformer battle machine.
I love you,
Jordan

Dear Brandt,
I’m glad that you’re my brother. You’re a great brother and I love you a lot. And I hope in the future you will be a wise man with your choices and stuff. Thank you for playing on the computer with me. I’m glad you’re my brother.
I love you,
Carson

Dear Brandt,
What a year this has been. I know that you are ready for a new one to begin, and I have high hopes that 2010 will be a better year for you. I have watched you walk through some very difficult things this year, you were sick more months than not. My heart ached each time you’d come down with something new. I wanted to take all that pain and discomfort for you. I am proud of how you persevered through it all and never fell behind in your school work. I will always remember the day that we gave “Hedgie” to you, despite how sick and weak you were, your whole face lit up. It has been a joy to see you taking care of him. I love to see you that content.
I have also been in awe of how you are growing up, each and every day. You have helped me to teach your brothers many new things. When I am unsure of how to pronounce a big word, I ask you and you are ready to help me out! My favorite moments are when you walk up to me, kiss my head and say, “I love you, Mama.” You melt my heart every time. Of course we have moments where we are bumping our heads against each other too. I pray that the coming years will draw us closer together and not keep us apart. I love you son and I believe in you and the plans that God has for you. Love Him with all your heart, soul and mind and love others. The rest will work itself out.
I love you,
Mommy

Dear Brandt,
I am so proud of the young man you are becoming. Thank you for caring for your little brothers and helping mommy when she asks. You are growing more confident in who you are each and every day. I am proud of you now and I know I will be very proud of the man you will become. I love you and I glad God has allowed me to be part of you life. I enjoy your company and the intelligent conversations we have. I am amazed by how much you know and understand about life, school, transformers, cars, Legos, the web, electronics, etc. Keep growing and learning. Thank you for all the ways you help me to be a better father.
I Love You,
Dad

Christmas 2009
Dear Carson,
I’m glad you’re my twin. I’m glad that I can play Wii and Legos with you. I hope that we can play Legos and Wii a lot together. I’m glad that I can play basketball and soccer with you.
I love you,
Jordan

Dear Carson,
Thank you for being my brother who will cooperate (most of the time). I enjoy making you laugh and playing with you. Thank you for taking care of me (and Hedgie) when I am sick.
I love you,
Brandt

Dear Carson,
It has been an exciting year, watching you grow from a little boy into a little man. You are learning new things every day and you grasp the concepts and ideas that I throw at you. Most things come so easy for you, always keep a humble heart and you will go far. I love to see how you care for others around you. you are quick to hand out hugs to anyone who needs them. I enjoy our times of snuggling on the couch together and I hope that you don’t get too big or too “cool” to do that anytime soon!

I see you as one who wants to please and minister to others. Always put others before yourself. I thank you for the ways that you are quick to obey me and how you pick up or straighten things without being asked. You see a need and take care of it. Thank you! I love you son and I believe in you and the plans that God has for you. Love Him with all your heart, soul and mind and love others. The rest will work itself out.
I love you,
Mommy

Dear Carson,
I love to see your passion to be competitive and to play sports. I enjoy your energy and your drive to be good at whatever you do. You will always be a champion. I Love you just the way you are and I want each day to be new motivation to excel at all God has for you. He has such great plans for you and I am proud of you. I love your knowledge and understanding of the bible and also the way your mind solves problems. You remind me of me when I was your age. Thank you for loving your family and being there for mommy when she calls. You always add excitement everywhere you go
I Love you,
Dad

Christmas 2009
Dear Jordan
I’m glad that we got to spend time together and I like the creations you make with Legos. I hope that we can play together every day. I like it when you smile. It brings me joy. I’m glad you’re my brother.
I love you,
Carson

Dear “Bug,”
Four words…You make me laugh. You are a funny little boy. Thank you for being my (and Hedgie’s) friend.
I love you,
Brandt

Dear Jordan,
Oh my dear, sweet “Bug.” You fill my life with smiles and laughter; you bring so much joy to my heart. I am seeing more and more just how witty you are. Your humor isn’t just silly or goody (although at times it can be), it’s very smart and sharp and your timing and delivery bring out the “mommy cackle.” Thank you for bringing a smile to my face on days that may not be so easy.

I also love to watch you work at your school assignments, art projects and during free play. Your mind never stops. I can see the wheels spinning as we go about any and every activity, always seeing a pattern or sequence, putting things into an order that makes sense to you. You are never bored, for you are always able to find something to build, draw or create. It is a joy to watch you go! I love you son and I believe in you and the plans that God has for you. Love Him with all your heart, soul and mind and love others. The rest will work itself out.
I Love you,
Mommy

Dear Jordan,
You are special. You have a laugh and a sense of humor that is contagious. Others around you always get caught up in the funny jokes and phrases you come up with. And, you are so quick. You have a gift from God to be able to lift the spirits of those around you and make them smile.
I am blessed to have you as a son. Your heart is warm and you truly care about others. Your hugs are heart felt and always right on time. I am so proud of you for using this gift God has given you. I pray you heart will remain tender as you care for others.
I Love You,
Dad

Dear Mommy,
I’m glad you are my mom because you take care of me and make sure I have clothing to wear. I couldn’t have wished for a better mommy. I’m glad you are here to make sure we behave ourselves. And, I’m really thankful that you are my mom.
I Love You,
Carson

Dear Mom,
Thank you for taking care of me when I was sick this year. I have enjoyed your company. You make me happy. Thank you for getting me Hedgie and reminding me to take care of him. You are a caring person. You are fun to play games with and be around.
You are the best mom ever.
I Love You,
Brandt

Dear Heather,
You are directly responsible for three very perfect boys. They have been given to you by God because he knew the powerful influence you would have on who they become. You have done Him proud. I am proud of you too. You are a wonderful mother and caregiver. There isn’t anything more your children could possible want. You have influenced me as well. I enjoy your company and value your input. You are smart and funny. You make others feel good about themselves. You care for those God has placed in your path. You have made this year a success for our family. This house is a home because of the warmth of your touch. I would be lost without you. I want to make this day and everyday special because you deserve it and much more.
I Love you and look forward to many more Christmas’s with you.
Darrel

Christmas 2009

Dear Daddy,
I love you a lot. I’m glad you’re my dad and I love having fun with you and playing ball with you. You’re a great dad and I don’t want to give you away. You’re the best dad I could have. I’m just really thankful that you’re my dad.
I love you,
Carson

Dear Daddy,
Thank you for all you’ve done and for caring for me. I don’t know how I could ever repay it. Thank you for everything. Thank you for giving me the best gift of my life—Hedgie.
I love you,
Brandt

Dear Darrel,
Thank you for taking good care of me and the boys this year. I have watched you work so hard at a job that gives back very little to you. I appreciate that you are willing to go out every day and give it your best so that we are provided for. Thank you for doing all the “extras” lately to allow me to stay at home and keep the boys comfortable. This has been a trying year. We have been through so much with Brandt’s health, with the struggles of work and church. If we are together, we can weather any storm.

Most of all, thank you for working hard at your quest for Christ-likeness. I see the effort you are putting forth and it gives my heart hope. I believe that this will be our most peaceful Christmas yet. I have high hopes for 2010, praying that it will be a year of deeper freedom for our family—spiritually, financially, relationally and physically.
I love you,
Heather
