Yesterday afternoon, our friends' little boy was seriously injured when a free standing fireplace fell on him. His cousin's leg was broken in the accident and L was airlifted to UVA. Little L is touch and go. When they first arrived at UVA, the doctors were grim and didn't offer any real hope. This morning at 6 a.m. his eyes opened, like any other day. He responded to pain which we know is a good sign. They are coding this a "DI," Divine Inner healing. We know that there is a long road ahead for this family. L is in God's hands and we are believing that He is going to bring this boy through, to His honor and glory.
In the meantime, our family is hugging a little tighter, praying a lot harder and expressing our gratitude for God's protection over us. We do not take for granted that we have three sons who are (now) healthy and strong, able to play and enjoy life. We also don't take lightly our role as parents, to protect and watch over our boys. Even when we do, some things are just out of our hands and that's why we call them accidents.
Dear God, watch over L tonight. Hold him, comfort him, soothe him, heal him. Surround B and L and the rest of the family with your peace that passes understanding. Grant wisdom to the doctors and staff members who will minister to his needs. Bring him out of this, to Your honor and glory. Let his life shine as a testimony of your power to the world around him.

I've heard about this from a few sources, but didn't know any of the details. I'm joining you in prayer for this family...as well as joining you in gratitude for my own family and the protection and health we have.
