One of my favorite parts of the day is what we call "quiet time." During the school year and especially during the summer months, I believe everyone is happier and gets along better if we have our daily "QT." Usually it falls from 1-3 or 2-4 in the afternoon. I enforce this time at least four times a week and I see good results because of it. The only two activities that are allowed during "QT?" Reading or napping. It must be QUIET. For two whole hours. Most of the time one or two of the boys will fall asleep. C often comes to me later, sleepy eyed, and says "Mom, thanks for making me take a nap. I feel so good now." I see improvement in the way the boys interact and relate to each other after the break. So, when the library or Barnes and Noble wants to reward such behavior, I am all too happy to let them!
This summer the boys have completed two library requirements and they are now on the first of two reading lists for Barnes and Noble. When it's all said and done, this is what they will walk away with...(totals for all three combined)
6 Medium Cheese Pizzas (Dominoes) $30
6 Bread Choices (Dominoes) $15
6 Games Of Bowling $18
3 Family Passes For Turks Baseball $50
3 Passes For Skating $9
3 Chik Fil A Kids Meals $9
3 Family Passes For Children's Museum $45
3 Free Blizzards (Dairy Queen) $9
6 Free Paper Back Books (Barnes and Noble) $30
---------------------------------------------------
Over $215 in Free Prizes
Now, I think that is a stash and anyone who knows me...knows I will use as many of those as possible. We may not have time to use all the Turks passes, as their season is almost over. We did enjoy one game on Sunday night, the weather was FABULOUS. Tonight the boys enjoyed their Chik Fil A meals. They gobbled up their Blizzards the day we got the coupons. The other prizes will be used soon! And to think...we would have read anyway! It's just so much more fun when you get PRIZES for doing it!

They give out some good prizes! My kids are also in our local library reading program but the prizes are not quite as exciting! Still...free fries, ice cream, a brownie, and tickets to go ice skating have been enough to motivate Annagrace!
