At the start of this summer, I titled this post, "Lazy Daze of Summer." I just changed the title..."One Busy Summer." Wow! It has been! Most of these events were unplanned, too. Sometimes we just go with the flow!
May 13--Park outing with CKC group; Lunch at NY Flying Pizza.
May 14--Mama enjoyed a spring morning walk through the neighborhood. Quiet day at home.
May 15--Church; Thunderstorm at Poppy's; Youth (played corn hole for the first time!).
May 16--Quiet day at home.
May 17--More thunder storms! Twins enjoyed playing in the rain.
May 18--Made a ladder ball set and learned to play!
May 19--Spent lots of time giving mama's blog a face lift!
May 20--Boys put up a tent under the willow tree and stayed out all day! Skievaskis visited. Dad put together new deck furniture.
May 21--Quiet day, Mama sold some CM and PDJ and scrap booked, boys played upstairs.
May 22--Lead worship at church, lunch at Boston Beanery. Home to rest.
May 23--Enjoying summer nights outside, boys playing ball, Mama sitting on the deck.
May 24--Baby J came over for the day, B watched him all day long! D came to dinner.
May 25--Boys took a long bike ride with Dad.
May 26--Boys helped Mama make lots of yummy food for camping; Packed.
May 27--Arrived at Highland, set up, enjoyed a powerful storm and rising creek.
May 28--A full day of swimming, playing, camping, cooking at Highland.
May 29--Church, then back to Highland. Cooper visitors. Swimming, grilling, chilling.
May 30--Last day at Highland. Swimming, packing, back home to do lots of laundry.
May 31--Mama woke up sick. Boys played quietly while Mama watched HGTV and rested.
June 1--Mama rested some more, boys stayed inside (96 degrees outside!).
June 2--Haircuts, Chik Fil A, Renew meeting, swimming at D and D's.
June 3--Beautiful day outside, signed up for summer reading program and stayed outside all day! We even had quiet/reading time outside!
June 4--Swimming!
June 5--Church, outing with youth to Highland Retreat (swimming, hiking, playing, swinging, snake taming...).
June 6--Quiet, restful day at home. Lots of Lego creating and reading!
June 7--Day of rest!
June 8--Errands, swimming at the H pool, M spent the night with B.
June 9--Matt started the day with us, my sweet E came to see me and D came to spend the night with the boys. Boys played Poker with Dad.
June 10--Water park day for the guys! Mom found some good movies on sale, so the boys enjoyed those during quiet time.
June 11--Day of rest and packing for Renew.
June 12--Led worship at church, dropped boys at Dad's, went to HHS to set up for Renew camp, leaders meeting. Registered campers, BBQ, opening service...it's going to be an awesome week! Twins went to my aunt's house for two days.
June 13--Renew camp, B and I were assigned to team San Fransisco. Our first project was dropping off grocery bags/flyers for our food drive. Service. Funky's. Awesome!
June 14--Renew camp, team San Fran went to Kelly Street and worked hard painting, power washing, mowing, etc. Service and laser tag.
June 15--Renew camp, team San Fran met Mrs. R and cleaned up her yard, mulched, power washed, mowed and visited. Twins went to E's house. Evening for Renew was U REC and another awesome service.
June 16--Renew camp, team San Fran to First Church of Nazarene to dig a ditch, make cards and cookies. Twins and D rested at Dad's. Ashby pool and service at HHS.
June 17--Final day at Renew camp. Team San Fran returned to pick up groceries for food drive, cleaned at HHS, had awesome banquet and closing service.
June 18--Rested at Dad's. Did follow up from Renew, lit up Facebook, trying to find as many campers as possible!
June 19--Church. Lunch. Home to unpack. D was sick, sick, sick.
June 20--Restful day for boys. D still sick. I sang in a funeral.
June 21--Quiet day at home. B started feeling ill.
June 22--B was still sick. Restful day for mom and twins. CQI for mom and dad.
June 23--Another quiet day at home, B was still not feeling well. H came for dinner, I went to another funeral.
June 24--VBS at Blessed Sacrament, saw some of our San Fran guys! Pizza for lunch, Klines for treat. Boys rested, mom ran errands. Mom went to Cornerstone 25th Anniversary. Ended up at Potter's House for Friday Night Fire.
June 25--Mom to bridal shower. Guys helped Poppy with yardwork, went to basketball game for Z and S. Cornerstone Lawn Party.
June 26--Led worship at church. Awesome set! Long naps for everyone. C's for dinner.
June 27--Day at home to REST UP! Dad read Narnia to the boys.
June 28--Day at home to REST UP! Water gun fight outside to beat the heat. Babysat E and H.
June 29--Errands, boys to Poppy's, CQI.
June 30--Errands, picked up A from the Fresh Air Fund.
July 1--Mom ran errands, had lunch with a friend. Took boys to Grand Caverns and then to swim at the W's pool.
July 2--Day of REST! A's 13th birthday, out for dinner.
July 3--Church, then to baby N's birthday party at the park/pool. Some 180 youth met us there...a great day, the boys swam and jumped off boards for four hours! Took the four boys up on Mass peak to watch fireworks.
July 4--Not the best 4th of July...rainy day made some of our plans fall flat. Picnic at Poppy's, downtown for awhile, fireworks cancelled!
July 5--Day of REST! We needed it! Basketball with dad, our boys, A and neighbor J.
July 6--Day of REST! CQI, boys to CCS to play while we had class.
July 7--Day of REST! Fresh Air picnic in evening.
July 8--Free lunch at Chick Fil A. Trip to Bergton's Blue Hole to swim. Checked in at Highland Retreat--mountain swing, hot dog roast, dinner with family, laddar ball, night swim.
July 9--Another trip to Blue Hole with our Florida family. Shower for mom and J, swimming with cousins, dinner, creek fun, night swim, tree house hike (after dark), hot dog and s'mores by the fire.
July 10--Church at Highland, picnic, wiffle ball, swimming, home to unpack!
July 11--A returned to NYC. Day of rest. Night full of Renew (San Fran & Co) youth. 13 youth from six churches...in our little house. LOVED IT!
July 12--J and J came over. The boys helped me watch them. It was 100 degrees and we started the day at the park.
July 13--Day of rest.
July 14--Day of rest, the boys have been fighting a bug all week.
July 15--Funeral for great aunt, visited another great aunt, family picnic at Poppy's, crop at our house.
July 16--Day of rest. AY came to visit mama in the morning. BK came to visit in the afternoon. Grilled out for dinner.
July 17--Church, awesome worship. DB came to introduce us to the GCC network, so excited about coming under that covering. Unplanned visit to Grandma and Grandad's, home to rest.
July 18--Morning of rest, J and J came in the afternoon.
July 19--J and J came back. Also, JL, another Renew friend, visited for several hours.
July 20--CQI, errands in town.
July 21--Visits from VB and NW, restful day in between.
July 22--Restful day at home, visited RJ in the hospital, went to see GP sing at Clementines.
July 23--Restful day.
July 24--Led worship at Truth and Grace, had JL and JG over for lunch, went to Richmond to view "Nefarious, Merchants of Souls," spent night at RMH with RJ.
July 25--Restful day.
July 26--J and J came to play, as well as the F family. A very busy, noisy, happy day.
July 27--Met up with some Renew youth, went to visit Mrs. R, then took the youth swimming. CQI in the evening. A very buys, exhausting, but awesome day!
July 28--Restful day.
July 29--Went to Highland to see D's family.
July 30--Restful day. J's birthday party at Pump It Up. I spent the night with RJ at RMH again.
July 31--Church, rested, Renew Night for youth.
August 1--Rested.
August 2--J and J came to play. Visited RJ at the hospital, baby shower for SK.
August 3--Rested, boys played baseball, napped, CQI. I spent the night with RJ again.
August 4--Rested. Very, very tired from hospital nights!
August 5--Rested. Ahhhhhh!
August 6--Day of rest for mom and boys, dad went to help with a service project.
August 7--Church, led worship, mom went to visit RJ in the hospital, youth group.
August 8--Mom had breakfast and lunch meetings with friends. Day of rest.
August 9--J and J came to play. San Fran & Co movie night!
August 10--Mom went back to stay with RJ in the hospital. Dad and mom grabbed dinner for our 15th anniversary, boys went to Poppy's.
August 11--Mom took RJ home from hospital. Found out some friends were in an accident, 16 year old boy was killed. Candlelight vigil at the high school. A very sad day.
August 12--A day of rest. We needed it!
August 13--Dad to work, day of rest for mom and boys. Swimming.
August 14--Our final day of summer vacation! WHERE DID IT GO?
