I am becoming more and more aware of the tenderness of J's heart. He is full of emotion and isn't afraid or inhibited to express it. From the past week or so, these are a few of the quotes I can recall...
We went to visit a sweet friend on the anniversary of her son's death. We went as a family and invited other teens from our Renew group to join us. Upon arriving, we were introduced to the lady's teen grandchildren. We visited, told stories, ate ice cream and got acquainted for over an hour and a half. There was never a moment of silence, the conversation flowed and connections were made. As we returned to our car, J snuggled up to me, eyes dancing, and said, "That was powerful, Mama. That was powerful." He summed it up in a word!
I was given the assignment of being J's seat buddy on his first airplane flight. He trembled with excitement for hours prior to takeoff. His tummy was flipping out, he could barely contain himself. As the plane took off, he turned to me and said, "I'm crying, Mama." He was that happy!
J has fallen in love with our hosts' pug puppies. The first day of exploring the Grand Canyon, J proclaimed, "Mama, I kept seeing Pug formations in the rocks." After three days away from the pups, on our way back to the T house, J stated, "I miss those pups. I'm ready for a lickin'!"
