One Word Focus for the Year 2010

This will be the fifth year I have chosen a one word focus for my year. This gives me a vision for where I want to grow and I can refer back to it when I loose direction along the way. Today, I went back to read 2009 New Year's entry.

I've decided to keep "Abide" as my one word focus for 2010. The past year has been a journey, getting me closer to this goal, but I know I still have so far to go. In March I began a quest to read the Bible from cover to cover. I've only made it about halfway through in the past nine months, but I've decided that when I am done, I will start over. I decided not to pick up any other self-help or other book that talks about the Word until I took some time to read it for myself. I've been in church all of my life, attended Christian school, Bible studies, youth group, lived on the mission field, attend Bible college, led numerous small groups and/or Bible studies...and yet there is so much about the Word of God that I don't really know or understand. I want to know the Truth, so the Truth can set me free. His Word is Truth! I want to know what His Word says for me so that I can live out my faith with conviction and consistency and not just regurgitate what someone else has told me to believe. I pray that 2010 will be a year of abiding and growing to be more like Him.
