On Tuesday, July 28, a new little critter came to stay at our house. For years, B has been intrigued by hedgehogs and echindas. He has done several research papers on these animals and has read every Wikipedia article that has been written. We have been searching online for a breeder to buy a hedgehog from. After B spent the day in the hospital, we received a call from a breeder about 90 minutes away. The timing was so good, this little critter came along to cheer up our boy. B had decided not to name him "Sonic," or "Comet," after the popular video game characters. Instead he said, "Mom I want to wait until I see his personality. Then I will know what I want to call him." I was outside that first night, watching the twins play ball while B rested and soothed his scared new baby. About twenty minutes later, he came out with a huge smile on his face. "I chose a name. I was singing "You are my hedgie, my only hedgie" to the tune of "You are my sunshine." When I got to "Please don't take my sunshine away," the sun peeked through the clouds and he poked his nose out at me for the first time. So I've decided to name him "Sunshine Hedgie Baker." Precious!
