Trying to get these little guys to enjoy reading can be a challenge. The oldest, B, has always been a strong reader. He reads smoothly and with expression. C does well, J struggles a bit. Today I decided to take their story and let them use it as a script for a puppet show. It was a hit. We practiced and then I went to rest. While I was napping, they added a spotlight and chairs for D and B to sit in while watching, provided a selection of snacks and even gave them play money to use for admittance.
"The Goats Are In The Turnips."
Our star-studded cast...The boy, the rabbit, the fox, the dog, the goats and the bee.
My stars, J and C...Ready to read. And, yes, we stayed in our PJs today. Ahh, home schooling!
Yesterday was another full Sunday. We decided to visit Cornerstone Church of Broadway so the boys could see some of their dear friends. A few weeks ago we asked C and J who they missed from their class. I knew what the answer would be, but I wanted to hear them say it. "L and G!!" was the response, in unison. L and G are two little girls who look alike, with dark hair and eyes and long eyelashes. They also look like my twins, so it's as if there was a set of quadruplets in the class. At recess each day the foursome would play together. At lunch each day, they would sit together. A favorite pastime was singing and dancing, their own renditions of High School Musical tunes. It was a delight to see the girls' faces light up when we arrived to hear them sing on the kids' worship team. Of course, B was thrilled to see his buddy M, who is also L's older brother. After the service we went to their house and enjoyed an indoor picnic.
Later in the evening, we hosted my former ladies' small group and their families. Our group met together from the fall of 2004 until the fall of 2007. I was blessed with many great friendships in that season and I'm doing my best to stay in touch with the ladies, despite the fact that I don't see them on Sundays or group nights. They are very dear to my heart, among my "Lifers," the friends I plan to keep for life.
