Today was another beautiful day. After school, I took the boys to Pizza Hut for their final free pizzas (I found Book It coupons from last year in my wallet). After that, we headed down the hill to the park and they played hide-and-seek in the playground structures. At least they played hide-and-seek until I could take no more. B hid so well that a good ten minutes passed and my heart started pounding. When in a public place, how do you know if your kid picked a really good spot or if someone snatched him? I finally had to raise my voice a bit and said "B, I'm sorry but you need to tell us where you are." Once he revealed himself, my heart rate returned to normal and I suggested an alternate game. "Follow the leader?" Much better.
After the park, we stopped by the library to pick up some books and DVD's they had on hold for us. I have two new Karen Kingsbury books to read. Give me two days, they will be done. More Anne of Green Gables to watch. The boys each chose a chapter book. On the way out the door, we looked in the "free" box and I was blown away. The third book from a Dee Henderson series was in the box. I had bought 1, 2, 4, 5 at the book fair last year, but they didn't have #3. How amazing is that? FREE! They also had 17 of a 20 volume set of animal encyclopedias. They are old and a bit musty. The boys were thrilled and spent almost an hour looking at them. I'm trying to decide if they can be cleaned up before they come in the house.
We arrived home and I asked the boys if they wanted to have "quiet time" outside. We spread a blanket on the ground and everyone chose a book. The 70 degree day was a bit breezy, so I sat in the sun. I have my first "pink" sunburn of the season. Life is good.
