David Wilkerson
I've known of David Wilkerson since I was a little girl. I knew the story of "The Cross and the Switchblade" and the work that Wilkerson and "Teen Challenge" did in New York and beyond. In junior high school, I read every paperback book I could get my hands on, stories of junkies, prostitutes and pimps who came to a saving knowledge of Jesus and went back to tell their friends about Him. As a young adult, I received Wilkerson's monthly newsletter and would weep as I read it, every single time it hit me right between the eyes and deep inside my heart. Recently a friend emailed me an excerpt from his blog and I signed up to get the daily posts. You can find a link under my blog list. This man has known trials and tribulations of every kind, but he has stood the test of time. In my mind, he's right there with Billy Graham. Two men who have taken precautions and guarded their hearts to stand out as righteous in a day when so many "bigwig" preachers are falling by the dozens. I don't believe that Wilkerson or Graham are perfect men, there is no one but Jesus who can stake that claim. But I do believe that they are humble and mighty vessels and have been used for God's glory for many years. I invite you to sign up for Wilkerson's blog. Your heart will be stirred, your testimony will be strengthened. You will be better prepared for the days to come.
