The boys have been struggling with self control and focus issues. We really need to buckle down on some behavioral issues. Today, I am giving them a fun afternoon at the children's museum as a reward. Of course, I long for them to obey and focus without a bribe. I pray that will come. I know that my three boys CAN sit and do their studies, as they are coming from a traditional school setting. I expect better. I will keep finding ways to pull it out of them. Each day they begin with a clean slate and a chance to earn a small marble. They get three warnings, or marks, before they lose the marble. The marbles get placed in a small cup and when the cup is filled, they all get to share a special privilege.
Beyond the typical little boy orneriness, there are so many moments of pure sweetness that come shining through. I just read one of Brandt's assigned books, "Noah Webster," so I'd be connected with what he's learning. When I told him I had finished his eyes got huge "Really? Already?" The twins giggled when I dictated math problems for them and every one had "7" as the answer. Jordan sees patterns in everything. Carson loves to do his cursive writing papers. I told him his writing will be better than mine before long.
