All around me, I know of trouble and pain. For me the past months have been hard ones to walk through. In our government, things look shaky. In our economy, things look grim. I have heard of four more marriages that are breaking up, in just a matter of days. I've heard stories of 5 and 6 year olds having their innocence stolen from them as they were faced with very adult issues. Several times a week, I get reports of another young person dying from a tragic accident or disease. Each of us knows at least one person who has let us down, leaving a hole in our hearts, a longing for restoration. What is this world coming to?
Yet, in the midst of it all...I must remind myself of the truth that keeps me alive. God is faithful. He is good. He has never changed. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He has never failed me, lied to me, hurt me or abandoned me. None of these circumstances take Him by surprise. He is still on the throne. He promises a reward for those who call on His Son, Jesus. When we accept Jesus into our hearts, ask Him to purify our hearts and forgive us of our sins, He promises us an eternal reward. "In this world you WILL have trouble, but take heart, I have overcome the world." In the end, we will get our reward, we will see Jesus face to face. No more tears, no more pain, no more disease, no more death. I am waiting for that day. But in the meantime, I must keep living. As one who has HOPE. My hope is in Him. Alone.
From a favorite Hillsong worship CD, "My Hope" (by Darlene Zschech)
"I will arise and lift my eyes to see Your majesty, Your holiness
And all I am will bless You
My hope is in the name of the Lord, where my help comes from
You're my strength, my song
My trust is in the name of the Lord, I will sing Your praise
You are faithful..."
